It is composed of individuals with different characteristics put together, function as team. Hence, the illness of one family member affects the health status of the entire family, just as individual family members, are variously affected by all that happens within the family. In an effort to study this problem, we carried out a qualitative study, using interview an observation guides, with the main objective of finding out how fundamental this problem can be. The main result of this study is that, nurses do not consider the family as an integral part of the life of the sick person, as well as the fact that women suffer most, in the case of the illness of a family member.
